Is your salary in charge of your life?

Standard

I’ve just been informed of my mates pay cut.  Somebody said “The fact that somebody is reducing your salary is just telling me they’re not satisfied with what you’re doing”, excuse me mister, what’s your name again?  He’s being working 10 hours a day, 6 days a week for the past 5 years with no benefits and no raise and after everything, suddenly somebody decided that he’s not doing a good job?

There are two ways you can look at this matter.  From  the employers point of view and the employees perspective.  No other way, really.  We know about the rich, the poor and the middle class, I can say this with certainty: they are doing their best to eliminate us, the middle class that is.

If somebody is reducing your salary because of the financial crisis (they all blame the wall street now), they should inform you at least one month earlier, in our case, two days before payment is pretty late.  The way I see it, they decided and there’s nothing we can do about it.  We have no choice than accepting the shrunken paycheck and compromising with this fact, cause it is a fact, we must shape our lives to this new standards.

In the end of the day you get to be the bad-paid employee , the tired man who didn’t have time to play with his kids/dogs (it doesn’t really matter), the woman who hadn’t had time to prepare dinner or wasn’t in the mood to have sex with her spouse, the desperate housewife.

So it makes me wonder, who’s in charge of your life?  Is it your employer or just some bad choices you’ve made?
